Fall Staple Pieces with The Paper Store

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic Thursday, the weekend is just around the corner and i couldn’t be more excited. It finally feels like fall outside and I have been breaking out my flannels and sweaters…about time, its only November (no biggie!)

Today I am sharing with you some of my fall staple pieces this season. I am someone who doesn’t really invest in trends. If I find a piece that is trendy but fits well into my classic style i’ll add it to my closet but I really try to stick to those versatile pieces that will last me season after season. One of my biggest things this season is quality over quantity. For me, working in fashion as well as having a blog, I easily get caught up in wanting to buy everything all the time. I clearly don’t have that kind of budget so I am really trying to focus on limiting myself to only the pieces that will give me so much wear.

The first item that I would say to invest in is good Denim

I get most of my denim from J.Crew or Express. I am not really sure about the quality of Express Denim yet. I like it but I don’t love it, J.Crew’s Denim is amazing though. Denim is timeless and something that can be worn season after season. I find myself living in Denim in the fall and wintertime. I’d say a good pair of jeans is definitely part of my signature look.

For fall, I love a cozy flannel thats why when I found this one at The Paper Store, I fell in love. It is so soft and comfortable. I love the longer cut which makes it wearable with leggings. The accents on this shirt add the perfect touch of chic to a classic oversized, boyfriend look. When I wear this top I feel cozy and feminine. I cannot recommend this piece enough. A flannel in the fall is something that will never go out of style and they can be dressed up as well as dressed down so easily. Its a go-to for me when I have a lazy day. I just throw on a flannel and jeans and I am good to go!

Statement Shoes

So this is where I get a little bit trendy. Slides are really in this season. I hoped on the band wagon because they really have a crisp, timeless look thats similar to a Loafer which I love. But another thing thats in this season, that you will see more of on the blog in the upcoming months is statement shoes. A simple outfit mixed with a pair of shoes that really make a bold entrance is something that just looks so good. Leopard shoes are easily paired with other patterns that they’re basically a fun neutral so when I saw these slides from Francesca’s Collection I couldn’t resist.

Statement Jewelry

A trend that certainly not going anywhere anytime soon. whether it be giant earrings or an oversized necklace, fashion jewelry has a way of making an outfit feel so put together. I am not the biggest collector of statement jewelry but I do love those pieces that are neutral, classic, while still adding a pop to my outfit. I layered two classic J.Crew statement necklaces to give the outfit a nice glow. I was certainly ready to take on my day!

I would love to hear what your favorite pieces for fall are. I am always looking for fashion inspiration, plus I love chatting about clothes. Comment below or find me on Instagram here. Let’s be friends!!

My Fourth of July

Good Morning, everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and is looking forward to the shortened work week ahead. Only three more days till the weekend… you got this.

There is something about the fourth of July that I love. I consider myself to be a very patriotic person, I truly love this country we live in and have the utmost respect for the men and women (past, present, and future) who put their lives on the line for us each day.

I had a very low-key weekend. Nick and I spent most of our time running errands, spending time with our families, and organizing things. We watched the fireworks in my town on Saturday night which is something that is kinda special for us. I think part of the reason why we enjoy them so much is at the end of our very first date we found ourselves watching some fireworks in his town after a really great day with some old friends. Certainly a day i’ll never forget. On Sunday we had some time with his family over dinner. Had a nice meal and got to play with Otis, their new puppy! Monday, we originally had plans to go hang out at a bar during the day and then a BBQ with my family at night but we actually found ourselves cleaning up the deck furniture with my dad instead. All our hard work yesterday paid off though because it ended up being something different to enjoy. When I was younger my sisters and I never really paid attention outside so no one was utilizing this great space we have, now that its all cleaned up, I am looking forward to many more nights out there.

Of course the weekend was spent in lots of red, white, and blue. All holiday’s aside, I truly love that color combination to begin with. Its so timeless. I had lots of fun this weekend taking pictures on my new phone. I upgraded to the iPhone 7 Plus and it was seriously such a great decision. The camera was everything I have been dreaming of. I normally don’t really care about the newest phone out etc. but I have been waiting for the chance to get my hands on this one. I am extremely happy with my decision. Not having to lug a huge camera around is kinda nice lol.

I’ve been wearing red, white, and blue since Friday rolled around. On my more casual days it was shorts and a cute tee with my Jacks and dressed up in a dress and jacks on my more dressy days. I’ve been experimenting with curling my hair. I am determined to master it so I can have a new go-to hairstyle and I have finally gotten it down. My goal for the fourth this year was to look as though I stepped out of a J.Crew catalog and I was pretty happy with my and Nick’s outfit choices. Ill be sure to have everything linked for you below so you can check out some of the pieces that I wore throughout the weekend!

I hope everyone had a great holiday again and I’d love to hear all about it. Feel free to let me know down in the comments below.

A Preppy Outfit!

Good Morning Lovelies!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. I am enjoying the warm weather so much!

One of the things I am trying to do more of is have a consistency of long and short pieces in my outfits. I find that I am great when it comes to picking out pieces for a hot summer as well as during the winter but the fall/spring are always more of a challenge for me. Its that in between, sometimes hot, sometimes cold, both in one day kinda weather that can get pretty confusing. The trick is to wear one long piece with one short piece to keep you comfortable throughout the day. This spring, for me, is mixing shorts with long sleeve tops. and the fall incorporates more pant options.

Even though its mid June and tomorrow is the official first day of summer, we have had more colder days than hot this season. It is said that should change soon but either way, a balance in your clothes makes for great options of summer outfits if you’re spending most of your day indoors!

This outfit is completely Vineyard Vines. I got this outfit last summer. I popped into VV and saw all the girls wearing something similar and I had to have this color combination. I thought an outfit like this was a staple for the spring and summertime on colder days/nights but then as the summer came and went, I never reached for it in my closet. I was lazy. It is so easy to just throw on a dress or romper and some sandals and go. An outfit like this takes more planning. The details of your day, whether or not your spending your day mostly outside or not determines if you can wear an outfit like this. This season I tried to be more organized when it came to my spring outfits. Sure enough,  I reached for it!

An oxford button down and some shorts are perfect as a classic outfit in your wardrobe. It has a timeless look that can be recreated in various different color and brand combinations!

OTS for Spring and Summer!

I am officially hopping on to the OTS bandwagon. I think these types of tops look super flattering on and I can not wait to experiment more with this trend. I can’t believe its the beginning of May and we are still experiencing some cold days here, up north. I am not complaining just yet because my room is the only room in the house that gets hot in the summer for some reason and I have yet to set up my portable air conditioner but other than that at this point in the year I would like to go outside without some sort of jacket on. We’ll get there eventually I’m sure though…

For trying out this trend I went to my trusty place, Old Navy. I honestly wasn’t sure if I would like this top so I figured might as well not break the bank for something that might not fit me well. I was wrong and I absolutely love it! I just want to take a second and give some love and appreciation to Old Navy, job well done on some of your pieces this year. I know I have been enjoying them as well as so many others! They really up’d their quality and I am no longer scared to shop there as a result.

I paired my top with some blue jeans as its still breezier some days. I wore statement earrings from J.Crew Factory because with a top like this earrings are an essential piece that pull the outfit together. It gives the outfit a more dressed up/put together look. Finally for my heeled sandals, they are also from Old Navy. Decent price point and they’re my go-to right now because they’re such a comfortable heel.

I am super excited for summer to arrive. I think that OTS is so flattering and cute for the warmer months. I can’t wait to play around with this trend some more. It’s SO cute!!

Gingham is My Staple

I must say that I really enjoyed taking these photos for the blog. I got to pose in front of my boyfriend’s truck and it was so much fun. I loved the look of everything, it screamed winter with snow on the ground. I was freezing but it was well worth it. I am beginning to discover what bloggers have to endure in order to get the shot. Hence, why my hands stay kept in my pockets in most if not all of these pictures.

One piece that did keep me warm was my beanie from Love Your Melon. I love the company’s cause so much I couldn’t resist getting myself something. 50% of the proceeds are donated to help fight against pediatric cancer. I find it so inspirational. I am not one who usually wears a beanie but I love the quality of this one so much. It looks so cute. The pom-pom at the top actually detaches if you like. Funny story: I thought I accidentally had broken it when the pom fell off once but then I noticed it was detachable and was like ‘phew.’ I would’ve been so upset if I ruined it.

If a pattern had to be a staple of mine, i’d say it’d be gingham. Behind stripes of course. I was packing for my last semester of college the other day and I noticed that like all my long-sleeve tees were solid or striped, it’s like you’d think I was Waldo or something. Anyway, its a tie between stripes and gingham, but gingham has a special place in my heart. It’s so neutral and timeless and y’all know I love pieces that seem as though they never go out of style. My version of the puffer vest is from last season at J.Crew Factory and this season’s is sold out online so if you come across it at your local J.Crew, grab it!!

Another thing I have been loving lately is my hunter boots. I have been switching on and off between red and navy everyday. But I will say that my toes nearly fell off while taking pictures for this post because it was so cold out and the rubber makes the cold worse so I really need to invest in a pair of Hunter Boot Socks. I am trying to decide which color would be the best one to get.

I hope you guys enjoyed the snow for the little time we had some! I just wanted to let you know that I am going to try my best to stick to new schedule of posting three times a week throughout the semester but I have been so busy this week and next, so bear with me! I have a lot of new stuff coming soon and I am so excited to share it with all of you. Hope you have a great weekend!

Stay Preppy,

Feeling Adventurous

I swear, this outfit makes me want to go on an adventure. I am ready for anything that comes my way as long as I got my Hunter rain boots and my L.L.Bean Quarter Zip. For Christmas, (I think I have mentioned this before) my family does a family-wide grab bag. My cousin, Victoria had me and got me a super cute pandora charm for my bracelet and and L.L. Bean gift card (my favorite place)! Thanks Tori if you’re reading. I LOVE it!

Nick and his older brother, Mike also got L.L Bean gift cards for Christmas so the three of us went shopping together to pick out some goodies. Nick got some new work boots and Mike got an All-Season 3-in-1 Jacket and  this Flannel-lined Shirt Jacket. Everyone was super happy with their new stuff. I seriously could stay in that store forever, I love everything so much. Everything you get is such great quality, it’ll last you a lifetime. We are very lucky to be able to have a store so close by!

For this outfit I layered my sweater with a gingham flannel from J.Crew underneath. I loved the look of it mixed with the color-block on the pullover. The combination went well together. I wore it with Jeans and my navy matte Hunter boots. No Jacket needed and it was pretty chilly out that day. I was so warm!

I love these pullovers, I have a few already and I love them so when I saw the color-block, I new I would get a lot of use out of it. It is a men’s pullover but they have unisex sizing. I held a women’s small up against a men’s and there wasn’t much of a difference, if any at all, so I went for it!

Hope you have a great weekend! See you Monday!

A Splash of Red in New York City!

Before the new year I packed up some family in the car and headed to New York City to see the Christmas tree before its taken down for the season. Now, I may only live fifteen minutes from the city but I love the Christmas decorations just as much as the next person. What can I say? It’s my favorite time of year.

I paired up with Talia B Photography to get some great shots in front of the tree and around the city. It was so cold and crowded with people but well worth it. There is something about Christmas-time in the city that just puts me in a good mood.  Once the shooting was done I popped into Starbucks for a well-deserved, WARM, vanilla latte. It was a great way to begin to draw a close to 2016.

I wore a white fisherman’s sweater which is my absolute favorite type of sweater. They’re great for layering and they’re so cozy/warm. I was going to layer under with a button-down and last minute decided I wouldn’t want to be too hot walking around but of course regretted that choice once I left the house. I wore my thick, J.Crew Vail, Parka coat. I am not that into parka’s honestly but this is about the only parka I’d wear. I LOVE it, I have been meaning to get one the past couple of seasons and finally went in to get it because the price was right. I wore the outfit with jeans and hunter boots. The final touch was a cute, Christmas-plaid scarf. If I had to pick a signature winter outfit that I reach for on a more day-to-day basis it would be this one. I think it screams my personality, a very timeless look with a splash of color!

Be sure to shop my outfit details down below!

If you’re looking to get your photos taken I’ll link all of Talia’s pages below, she does great work! I look forward to working with her again.

Crazy For Pineapples

Pineapples have become an unwritten preppy symbol. Needless to say that I am obsessed, when Lilly Pulitzer released their Flamenco I could not resist adding a shift to my collection. Although in recent years I have been trying to incorporate Lilly pieces into my fall and winter wardrobe, Lilly season is FINALLY upon us and in full swing. The energy of the beautiful colors and patterns are simply contagious. In this post I am wearing the Mila Shift which is a nice flattering fit. I have some other Mila shifts in the cut from last spring and summer (2015). The fit is a bit more updated/flattering. The old cut was a little on the short side… Now, tall people (like me) can rest assured because this updated version adds some length. I wore it with my Marbella mid wedges, any jacks are pretty much my go to shoe choice once the weather gets nice. Links Below.

Also have you checked out Lilly Pulitzer’s new wallpapers for summer?! All you need to do is register at, click on MY ACCOUNT and they provide and update them for you per collection. My favorite is most definitely southern charm!

Gladiator Sandals

Something so out of my norm but so fun, I got this pair of Sofia Leather Gladiator Sandals and needless to say that I’m obsessed. They’re a piece that is a bit more on the edgy side but they bring so much flare to a casual spring/summer look. A great way to dress up something that could be considered plain in your book. Plus they’re really comfy!

In the pictures posted I paired it with a simple, little, black dress but you can do so much more with it. Dress it up on top with a floral or striped piece or even dress it down with just a casual tee and jean shorts. With this in-between weather that we’ve been having I would even pair it with a cute hoodie and shorts combo. Perfect for a short romper too!

Its all in the accessories, a long cardigan or a cute hat could be the perfect touch..

So I am super lucky to have an awesome photographer/really good-looking male model who lets me feature him on here. (P.S. thanks for being so supportive, Nick) We took an adventure to Hoboken for dinner one Friday night and couldn’t resist taking photos with the perfect New York City Skyline in the backdrop.

This weather is so in-between these days I feel like my body temperature is off and I never know what to wear. We both anticipated it being warmer and wound up freezing our butts off by the end of the night. I decided to go with a simple black maxi and trench with heels. Nicky went with khaki shorts and a button-down. I’d say we looked pretty spring.

I can’t wait for this warm weather to become more consistent…
